Compensation is a commitment that the organisation owes to its personnel as a means of compensating them for their contribution to the achievement of organisational goals. Employee motivation in the workplace is still one of the most delicate things to discuss since it determines the level of effort that employees will put forth in the business in order to commit to high levels of performance. Primary data were gathered from mini survey questionnaires provided to employees of Edo State Polytechnic, Usen, in order to identify several sorts of reinforcement packages based on the preferences of employees. According to the findings of this study, employees choose extrinsic benefits (such as cash or monetary compensation) over any other sort of compensation.
2022-04-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2022 https://edopolyjournal.org.ng/index.php/home/article/view/10 Confronting Nigerian Construction Delays through Educational Research 2022-12-23T18:34:55+00:00 David J. Through this process, the process of education can assist in the development of new techniques and methods that are both more effective and efficient in solving the issue of time overruns in building projects. Every construction project experiences delays, and the magnitude of these delays varies significantly from project to project. In Africa, construction delays are one of the most significant obstacles to the achievement of project objectives. When it comes to construction projects, they are complicated human endeavours that necessitate substantial planning and strict control in order to be effective. The findings of this study show the fundamental categories of elements that contribute to construction delays, and they further demonstrate that educational research can aid in stemming the tide of negativity in the sector.
2022-04-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2022 https://edopolyjournal.org.ng/index.php/home/article/view/11 Identifying the Causes of Low Student Enrolment in STEM Courses in Nigerian Higher Educational Institutions 2022-12-23T18:34:58+00:00 Akugbe Iguisi akugbeiguisi@gmail.com Sabrena Edomsowan akugbeiguisi@gmail.com
Because of students' poor engagement in science, the government's Higher Educational Institution (HEI) admission policy of a 60:40 science/arts ratio at Nigeria's Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) has been unable to fully implement the programme. According to this interpretation, an economy cannot grow its human and material resources if it does not have a sufficient pool of suitably skilled workers in research and scientific-related sectors at all levels of government. For the foreseeable future, the STEM workforce will continue to be critical to our economic vitality, with contributions to innovation, technological growth, and economic development expected. As part of the effort to determine the root cause of this lack of interest, this research was conducted. After asking themselves why STEM-related courses were not offered at higher education institutions, students responded with six broad distinct groupings that might be classified as follows: According to the findings of the survey, the notion that STEM courses are difficult is the most significant factor preventing students from enrolling in STEM-related courses in college. When it comes to dealing with the issues that have been recognised. The government would have to play a key role in driving the process by putting in place policies that are viable and implementable.
2022-04-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2022 https://edopolyjournal.org.ng/index.php/home/article/view/12 Examining the Impact of Intramural Welfare Packages on Staff Performance at Edo State Polytechnic 2022-12-23T18:35:01+00:00 Christopher A. Like all educational institutions, Edo State Polytechnic delivers mostly basic education services that equip everyone to live. Ensure that employees or lecturers carry out this task is closely linked to their job happiness and job motivation on the one hand and the incentives that can be provided on the ground to demand the satisfaction and motivation of their work known as welfare packages. The study was carried out in Edo State Polytechnic, Netherlands, Usen, showing that gratuity and pension ranks at 22% as the largest and 2% as the least essential component in providing the notice board.
2022-04-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2022 https://edopolyjournal.org.ng/index.php/home/article/view/8 An Investigation of Network Performance in GSM Cellular Networks (Case Study of Benin Metropolis) 2022-12-23T18:34:51+00:00 I. Omorodion amayanvbo@gmail.com
The purpose of this article is to evaluate and compare the performance of the GSM cellular network in the country of Nigeria. The primary focus of this study is to evaluate the service quality provided by mobile telephone carriers in Nigeria, with three core GSM network operators serving as case studies in this endeavour. For the purpose of this report, three distinct GSM network providers in Nigeria were evaluated using a variety of key performance indicators (KPIs). For example, Operators A, B, and C. Names have been concealed for reasons of appropriateness. Call Drop Rate, Call Success Rate, Traffic Channel Availability, and Traffic Channel Congestion are the key performance indicators that are being analysed. In order to investigate operators (A, B, and C), an analytical method was employed in conjunction with Microsoft Excel 2013 in order to develop a graphical representation.
2022-04-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2022 https://edopolyjournal.org.ng/index.php/home/article/view/13 The Hybridization of Renewable Energy Systems in Nigeria 2022-12-23T18:46:11+00:00 I. Amayanvbo amayanvbo@gmail.com O. K. Ojo amayanvbo@gmail.com I. Omorodion amayanvbo@gmail.com
As the world's energy consumption continues to rise on a regular basis, the need for additional power generation will become unavoidable. In order to meet this need for electricity, renewable energy supplies must account for a large portion of the entire demand. In the form of a hybrid system, wind turbine technology paired with solar photovoltaic (PV) technology can play an important part in reducing our future energy consumptions while providing a cost-effective energy conversion system. According to this paper, the possibility of hybridising the various renewable energy sources available in Nigeria is being investigated, as well as the sustainability, challenges, and benefits associated with hybridising the various renewable energy sources (PVs and wind turbines) that are abundantly available in the country. The hybrid energy system, which consists of a combination of numerous energy resources that are readily available in Nigeria, is an excellent answer to the country's persistently erratic power supply. As a result, the quality of life will increase, which will help to reduce atmospheric degradation.
2022-04-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2022 https://edopolyjournal.org.ng/index.php/home/article/view/14 Development of a Solar Dryer for Drying Agricultural Products 2022-12-23T19:28:27+00:00 I. Amayanvbo amayanvbo@gmail.com O. K. Ojo amayanvbo@gmail.com O. Omorodion amayanvbo@gmail.com
This paper describes a solar drying system that makes use of solar energy to heat air and dry any food substance that has been loaded into it. This system is effective in minimising agricultural product waste and aids in the preservation of agricultural products, among other things. Taking into consideration the drawbacks of natural sun drying, such as contact with direct sunlight, pest and rodent problems, lack of effective monitoring, and the increased high cost of the mechanical dryer, a solar system has been devised to address these issues. In this project, we will show you how to design and build a solar dryer system from scratch. The dryer is comprised of a solar collector (air warmer) and a solar drying chamber confining rack of three cloth (net) trays, which are both merged into a single structure. During the drying process, air is drawn into the drying chamber and heated by the solar collector. This heated air is directed through the drying chamber and used for drying purposes. The design was based on the geographical location, which was Edo State Polytechnic, the usen village in Ovia, in the south-eastern part of Edo state, and climatic data was acquired to ensure that the design specification was accurate. Wood, glass, aluminium metal sheet, copper, and net cloth for the trays were among the materials utilised in the construction, which was primarily made of locally available materials. The dryer operates at its most
efficient temperature of 50.500 degrees Celsius, with an ambient temperature of 34.5° degrees Celsius. The solar dryer was successful in removing 43.2 percent and 40.6 percent of the moisture content from maize and plantain, respectively, as compared to 28.2 percent and 27.89 percent from maize and plantain using the sun drying method, indicating a difference of 15.0 percent and 12.71 percent, respectively. The rapid rate of drying in the dryer demonstrates its ability to dry food items reasonably quickly to a high degree of consistency, as compared to the sun drying method.
2022-04-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2022 https://edopolyjournal.org.ng/index.php/home/article/view/15 Web-based Student Time-Table Management System 2022-12-23T19:28:38+00:00 Otaninyenuwa Helen Omoregbee eyoski@yahoo.com E. I. Ihama eyoski@yahoo.com L. E. Izogie eyoski@yahoo.com Friday Mike Otamere eyoski@yahoo.com
The scheduling of lectures and practical timetables for a large number of courses is a very complex problem that is frequently managed manually by the center's employees, despite the fact that the outcomes are not always completely satisfactory. Because timetabling is a highly constrained combinational problem (i.e., it concerns the combinations and arrangements of elements in sets), this work attempts to demonstrate the effectiveness of evolutionary techniques based on Darwin's theories in solving the timetabling problem, even if the solution is not fully optimal but close to optimal. An very popular meta-heuristic, the Genetic Algorithm has been successfully applied to a variety of difficult combinational optimization issues. When a local search is done on a multi-dimensional array representing course sets, halls, and time allocations, the results are combined with heuristic crossover to guarantee that fundamental restrictions are not broken. Once a workable timetable system had been developed and verified, the genetic algorithm was used to demonstrate the variety of different schedules that might be generated depending on user-specified limits and requirements. The application was created with PHP and MySQL as the programming languages.
2022-04-01T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2022
